3D Photogrammetry Webcam Reconstruction, Metashape, Unity, Zoom

2020

The Zoom Cliff is a virtual reconstruction of the frantic topography of the quarantine and the disembodied experience of video presence via Zoom calls. A cruise from the streets of downtown Pittsburgh in February 2020, to the circumforaneous space of my virtual encounters with four friends during the March lockdown.

After recording four video meetings with four friends located in different cities, I obtained enough frames to reconstruct a 3-dimensional photogrammetry model of their webcam backgrounds and compose a virtual landscape of my Zoom scape. Their rooms then were suspended in an intermediate virtual space coexisting along with the anxiety of returning indefinitely to home.
